Merry Christmas
Dear Followers and Friends,
as we approach the holiday season, I can’t help but reflect on the past year and all that has happened. The pandemic that swept the world was a difficult time for all of us, but I am grateful that it has finally come to an end in most parts of the world. 2022 has been an incredibly intense year, full of new experiences, friendships, and opportunities. A year of new beginnings, adventure, and fun.
But unfortunately, as with every year, new crises have arisen, including the ongoing war in Ukraine and the accompanying inflation and energy crisis in Western countries. These problems, combined with the fear of war on our doorstep and rising prices while incomes remain the same, can be overwhelming. And then there is always the elephant in the room, the far more pressing existential crises we face: climate catastrophe and the destruction of our planet. These crises threaten us all, and the window of opportunity to act is incredibly short.
Despite these challenges, I am hopeful that in times of crisis, humanity has always found a way to help each other. I believe that will be the case again, even if it is a little later than we would like. It will be difficult, and it may take a great deal of self-denial, but I believe we can do it if we really want to. There will be peace, there will be stability, and there will be a future. It will just be completely different from what we can predict and imagine.
Let’s get back to the present: I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year filled with health, mental stability, and joy. May you find warmth and security in the company of your friends and/or family. And as always, I say goodbye with politeness, and maybe a little flirtation as well (kind of a tradition on this blog).
Take care and see you soon,
Luit
